The second round of judging for the Idea Contest, a program to develop human resources for the digital society, was held and the grand prize winner was selected!
As part of the Digital Society Human Resource Development Program, we held an idea contest for solving social issues in Nishi-Shinjuku.
Five teams passed the first round of the idea contest held on November 13 (Sunday) and advanced to the finals, where a second round of judging was held on February 19 (Sunday).
The five teams that advanced to the second round of judging presented their ideas and prototypes, and a total of seven judges and observers voted to select the grand prize winner!

Group 1: N-SEC "N-SEC" by N-SECers
With the aim of creating local attractions, we presented an idea for a digital bulletin board in the elevator to effectively utilize the time spent in the elevator and to provide users with information on the local area of Nishi-Shinjuku.
The prototype included a moving image of the signage screen projected on the elevator.

Group 2: Chick group "Making the 'Tokyo Kosodate Switch' app more useful
With the aim of improving the mobile environment, we presented an idea to improve the existing application in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's official application "Tokyo Kosodate Switch" so that it can carry a lot of necessary and accurate information, and support childcare that reduces the time and effort for families raising children to search when they are out or in an emergency.
In the prototype, we added features to the app to make it easier to view and more convenient.

Group 3: 6 (Six) "UnivSix
With the aim of raising awareness and encouraging community involvement, we presented ideas for a social networking service exclusively for students that would allow students who wish to interact with others to join a new community through an app and make friends that they could meet in real life.
In the prototype, an application was created and equipped with ingenious features to deepen interaction.

Group 4: patapata "Trip in Nishi-Shinjuku with AR
With the aim of creating local attractions, we presented an idea to provide parents and children visiting Shinjuku Chuo Park with an AR version of bird watching experience by representing birds in an augmented reality world in the park's rich natural environment through AR technology.
The prototype created a screen image of the application and introduced the ingenious design and functionality that would attract parents and children.

Group 5: Nishi-Shinjuku Cat Islandization Plan Executive Committee "Nishi-Shinjuku Cat Islandization Plan
With the aim of creating local attractions, we presented an idea to have a cat placed on the AR space guide visitors to attractive spots in Nishi-Shinjuku, so that visitors to Nishi-Shinjuku can reach their destinations while being comforted by the cat.
In the prototype, a screen image of the application equipped with AR functionality was created, showing a cat giving directions.

A total of seven judges asked questions and provided feedback on the students' ideas and prototypes from a variety of perspectives, including government, business, and academia.

The winner of the Excellence Award was "Team 6," which proposed a social networking service to create student interaction in Nishi-Shinjuku from a unique student perspective!

In reflecting and sharing impressions among students after the second round of judging presentations,
In the course of reviewing the ideas and creating the prototypes, there were many difficulties, but we were able to accomplish this by working together with the team members and utilizing their strengths,
However, we were able to accomplish this by cooperating with team members by taking advantage of our respective strengths.
I believe that each one of you has acquired digital technology and a mindset for solving social issues, while at the same time honing your teamwork skills over the past four months.
